Kingston is buzzing with anticipation as the final tasting round of ‘Kingston’s Best Coffee Cup’ approaches. Cafés from Kingston City, Port Royal, and New Haven have battled their way through preliminary rounds, and the friendly competition has ignited a spark of local pride across the Republic.

This year’s contest has been particularly spirited. Kingston City’s ‘The Daily Grind,’ known for its ethically sourced beans, faces off against Port Royal’s ‘Salty Siren,’ a beloved institution known for its seaside views and traditional brews. New Haven’s ‘The Bean Scene,’ a relative newcomer, has surprised many with its innovative flavor combinations and modern approach.

“It’s more than just a competition,” says Elsie Miller, a regular at ‘The Daily Grind.’ “It’s about celebrating our local businesses and the unique character of each city. It’s great to see Kingston City, Port Royal, and New Haven all represented!”

The final tasting, to be held this Saturday at the Kingston Central Market, promises to be a lively affair. Judges, comprised of local food critics and community leaders, will assess each café’s coffee based on aroma, taste, and presentation. While the competition is fierce, the spirit remains one of camaraderie and shared passion for a good cup of coffee.

The Kingston Herald wishes all finalists the best of luck and encourages everyone to come out and support our local businesses! Whether you’re a Kingston City loyalist, a Port Royal native, or a New Haven enthusiast, there’s something to savor in this friendly rivalry.
